How to name a language
When you set a saved output language in /settings, you type the language into a
text field. You can enter a common name, such as Japanese, French, or
German, or a more specific tag when a language needs one. Jibber supports a wide
range of languages. This field is what the settings command
uses to decide the language your translations, grammar notes, and summaries come back in.
The guide does not publish a full list of supported languages, so the examples below are illustrative rather than exhaustive.
Examples you can type
| What you type | What it means | When you would use it |
|---|---|---|
Japanese | Japanese | A plain name is enough for most languages. |
French | French | A plain name is enough for most languages. |
German | German | A plain name is enough for most languages. |
Filipino | Filipino | A plain name is enough for most languages. |
pt-BR | Brazilian Portuguese | A tag is useful when a language has regional variants. |
es-419 | Latin American Spanish | A tag is useful when a language has regional variants. |
zh-CN | Simplified Chinese | A tag is useful when a language has script variants. |
zh-TW | Traditional Chinese | A tag is useful when a language has script variants. |
If a language is not supported
What happens if you set nothing
If you do not set a saved language, Jibber follows the language your Discord app is set to. You can change this at any time from the settings command.
